Vintage Ricard French Glass Pitcher / Carafe
This vintage Ricard glass carafe features the classic blue‑and‑yellow Ricard logo on the front, a design used for decades in French cafés and bistros. These pitchers were traditionally used to serve water alongside pastis, the iconic anise drink produced by Ricard. Guests would pour a measure of pastis, then add cold water from the carafe to create the signature cloudy drink known as “le jaune.”
The carafe is made of clear pressed glass with a rectangular body, rounded edges, and a short flared neck. It is signed with the Ricard logo and remains in very good vintage condition, with light signs of age but no chips, cracks, or cloudiness.
Because Ricard reused this design over many years, exact dating is difficult without factory records, but this style is generally associated with mid‑century to late 20th‑century café service.

This type of carafe was a staple in French cafés, brasseries, and bistros. It was used primarily to serve water that guests would mix with Ricard pastis, creating the traditional milky drink enjoyed throughout the south of France. Today, these carafes are collected for their cultural charm and make excellent barware, kitchen décor, or display pieces.
Choosing vintage glassware supports reuse and reduces waste.
