Vintage Italian "Micro" Mosaic Orange Floral Oval Brooch

This stunning colorful vintage Italian "micro" mosaic brooch features Spring white and blue flowers framed by orange mosaic. It is inlaid in an oval brass frame with a pin back closure. 

The term micro mosaic is used a lot for those brooches but the correct term is mosaic, for the micro mosaic jewelry the tesserae are much smaller. 

This vintage brooch is mid-20th century. It is in excellent vintage condition with no missing pieces and no tarnish.

Micro mosaic and mosaic date back to the Roman Empire. It became popular to wear micro mosaic jewelry in the 17th – 19th centuries as rich European families were touring Europe especially Italy.
